Equipment Technician

Charlottesville Albemarle Airport Authority is seeking an experienced diesel/gasoline mechanic for the position of Equipment Technician for the Airport. Responsibilities include repairs and preventive maintenance on all vehicles and airport equipment to include heavy-duty equipment such as dump trucks, snow plows and Aircraft firefighting vehicles and ground maintenance equipment such as mowers and tractors. This position serves as a member of aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) team for CHO Airport. Successful applicant required to pass Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting certification which is provided in-house within 1 year of hire date and required to maintain certification. On-call snow/ice removal is required. A high school education with at least 5 years of prior experience as a diesel mechanic is required.

Pay starting at $20.00 per hour but a higher entry rate may be considered based on experienced. Schedules may include weekdays, weekends, evening shifts and holidays. Chief of Public Safety

Charlottesville Albemarle Airport Authority owns and operates the Charlottesville Albemarle Airport (CHO) and is currently seeking a strong, motivated leader to serve as the Chief of Public Safety. The Chief is responsible for directing all police, fire, and emergency medical response requirements of the Public Safety Department in accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulatory requirements. A minimum of ten (10) years of work experience as a sworn Commonwealth Police Officer, with at least eight (8) of those years in a command/leadership role overseeing a team of law enforcement officers is required. Possession of Virginia Basic Law Enforcement Training certification is preferred or must be obtained within 12 months of hire date. Bachelor of Science Degree is preferred.

Final candidates will participate in an oral interview board and undergo a polygraph, health/drug screening. The successfully completion of a Fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Checks, an employment background check and having a driving record insurable by Authority’s automobile liability carrier will then be required prior to employment. Within two week of employment, the employee must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license.

Salary range is $65,000 – $80,000 based on experienced. Public Safety Officer

Charlottesville Albemarle Airport Authority is currently seeking a customer service focused individual as a full-time Public Safety Officer. This position serves as both a law enforcement officer and aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) provider for CHO Airport. Certified LEO and Fire Fighters are preferred. If the successful applicant is not certified, they will be sponsored by the Authority for training at the Shenandoah Criminal Justice Training Academy. ARFF certification training will also be provided if not already certified. Successful candidate must be LEO and ARFF certified within 1 year of hire. Candidates are required to complete an entry level police test. Final candidates will participate in an oral interview board and undergo a polygraph, health/drug screening and comprehensive background investigation. Entry level starting salary is $42,000. Higher starting salary will be considered based on experienced. Schedules to include weekdays, weekends, evening shifts and holidays. Landside Operations Agent

Charlottesville Albemarle Airport Authority is currently seeking a customer service focused individual as a full-time Landside Operation Agent (LOA). Responsibilities include driving airport shuttle on and around premises, cashiering in airport parking booths, assisting customers with airport information in and around the terminal building, assisting with the use of airport parking equipment, performing basic troubleshooting and repairs of parking equipment, completing daily shift reports. Pay starting at $12.74 per hour. Schedules may include weekdays, weekends, evening shifts and holidays. Seasonal Groundskeeper

Charlottesville Albemarle Airport Authority is currently accepting applications for a Seasonal Groundskeeper. Responsibilities include performing grounds maintenance such as mowing, sweeping, picking up trash, weeding, mulching. Also assisting with light maintenance in the terminal such as painting, custodial duties and light repair work. Must be able to operate automatic and manual transmission equipment, heavy machinery including tractors, dump trucks and bush-hogs. National and Alamo has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Car Prep/Lot Attendant

The Car Prep/Lot Attendant prepares and service vehicles prior to rental including: refueling, cleaning and washing, checking fluids and pressure levels of all vehicles. This person will perform all responsibilities with a focus on the needs of our customers and in accordance with our Quality Standards. This position is located at the Charlottesville Airport and pays $10.00/hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect vehicle to ensure safety equipment is in working order; lights, tires, brakes, wipers, horn, seat belts, mirrors and back-up lights.
  • Inspect vehicles for unidentified body damage.
  • Clean all exterior and interior windows and mirrors and vacuum interior, floor, seats, ashtray and trunk.
  • Provide positive customer service, including greetings, assistance with luggage and personal belongings, where applicable.
  • Place items found in vehicles in lost and found. Direct drivers to drop off locations as necessary.
  • Drive the vehicle from drop off point to service area; drive vehicle through car wash and to ready line as necessary.
  • Refuel the vehicle and log identification number with fuel needed and mileage.
  • Ensure that the key tag is properly marked with the correct VIN or Unit number and license plate number.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and report any unsafe or hazardous conditions.
  • Complete the out-of-service tag and ensure the vehicle is moved to the maintenance area.
  • Identify and pull the vehicles that are eligible for turnback, flagged for grounding or preventative maintenance and verify their movement to the proper lot location…

    Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Must have 6 months of work experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with no more than 2 convicted moving violations on driving record within the past 3 years
  • No drug, alcohol, or reckless convictions on driving record within the past 3 years (DUI/DWI)
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
  • Must be able to give a minimum 1 year commitment to our company
  • Apart from religious observation, must be available to work the following schedule not to exceed 40 hours per work week at the Charlottesville Airport:
